Originally designated as a town in 1855, Charlottetown within the Canadian province of Prince Edward Island, it wasn’t actually until 1885 when Charlottetown was first recognized as being a city in its own rights. Charlottetown is a harbor city and in 1995 it grew massively in size because it combined with 6 other communities to create what is now the city.
